Javascript Developer

Description

Nutonian is looking for a JavaScript Engineer (with a capital E) to architect, build, test, and maintain the code that drives our application's user interface. Surrounded by similarly intelligent and motivated people, you will strive for simplicity and elegance in implementation and presentation. You will be joining an early stage company at the right time to define the architecture to push people's understanding of what an application delivered via a web browser can be.

Nutonian is changing the way people interact with their data to understand the hidden mathematical relationships there. Backed by Atlas Ventures we are very well funded and in a unique position to capitalize on the convergence of trends in big data and machine learning.

Our core technology, built upon years of academic research at Cornell University, automatically finds all the interesting relationships in data sets. Our current products have been used by over 30,000 people, a testament to its power and commercial reach. Our team is still small - everyone has a large impact, knows the CEO personally, and will create and own the core technology components that make up our company's product. Like other high performance teams, while we work hard, we also play hard with regular company meals, dinners, and social outings.

Requirements

  • Experience with Javascript and modern libraries (i.e. Backbone.js, node.js, jQuery et. al)
  • Significant industrial software development experience
  • Believe in and experience with modern software engineering: unit testing (both app logic and UI), source control, continuous integration, automation, design patterns, etc.
  • Ability to help us build a world class application development team around you, and willingness to mentor more junior engineers.
  • Explain common patterns such as MVC, asynchronous callbacks and templating.
  • Experience with CSS and best practices for styling web pages
  • Appreciate (do not have to be an expert in) visual design.

Bonus Points for:

  • Experience or education in machine learning and/or data mining
  • Graduate degree in computer science or engineering
  • A love of programming (e.g. LOLCODE or equivalent)
